The number of mentions indicates the total number of mentions that we've tracked plus the number of user suggested alternatives.
Stars - the number of stars that a project has on GitHub. Growth - month over month growth in stars.
Activity is a relative number indicating how actively a project is being developed. Recent commits have higher weight than older ones.
For example, an activity of 9.0 indicates that a project is amongst the top 10% of the most actively developed projects that we are tracking.

roscore not starting correctly
I had the same problem. It depends on rosgraph: https://github.com/ros/ros_comm/pull/2297/commits/fcd2d10140d995e3d577cad059249b8d1421b468. I wrote a patch for the arch package and now it works. Take a look at the following gist https://gist.github.com/muellerbernd/554c311157deb39bf5ce45e1403a6eb4

ROS1 Noetic: Can you use a parameter for an if condition in a launch file?
Using parameters this way is problematic. See the discussion here: https://github.com/ros/ros_comm/issues/723

roscore not starting correctly
the OSRF has actually an docker-wrapper project called "rocker". Which handels setting up docker to use with GUI and GPU. However, for Nvidia GPU it relies on some nvidia-docker toolkit... which I found difficult to get it to work. Anyway, heres the link: https://github.com/osrf/rocker

Ubuntu 20.04 not booting on 12th gen Intel i9 processors and GeForce RTX 3080.
ROS 1 isn't supported on Ubuntu 20.04, so it's not packaged. Docker might be the easiest way, probably using the rocker script

ROS and Gazebo on Docker on Mac M1 Pro
Alternatively you can look into oder/rocker, which gives you easy volume mounting, X11 forwarding, and other QoL features.
What are some alternatives?
When comparing rospy and rocker you can also consider the following projects:
roslibpy - Python ROS Bridge library
PythonRobotics - Python sample codes for robotics algorithms.
Dstar-lite-pathplanner - Implementation of the D* lite algorithm in Python for "Improved Fast Replanning for Robot Navigation in Unknown Terrain"
mycobot_ros - A ros package for myCobot.
rosbot-docker - Docker images for ROSbot 2 platform
project-spotmicro-ai - Controlling the MicriSpotAI robot from scratch
ros2_documentation - ROS 2 docs repository
