  • GitHub repo calculator

Windows Calculator: A simple yet powerful calculator that ships with Windows

Project mention: How and why Relational Model works for databases | news.ycombinator.com | 2022-01-17

I could see how someone would get that impression If they've only worked at companies who only exist solely to light VC cash on fire.

    It's an incorrect impression, obviously.

For >20 year old code, Calc.exe is just one example off the top of my head - https://github.com/Microsoft/calculator

The majority of the products I've personally worked on over my 15 year career in software development are still doing useful things and contain code written more than 20 years ago.

  • GitHub repo GlosSI

Tool for using Steam-Input controller rebinding at a system level alongside a global overlay

Project mention: A few questions regarding the steam controller and upcoming steam Deck release | reddit.com/r/SteamController | 2022-01-12

To elaborate: For games that work well with the Steam Controller, and don't require any configuration, there won't be any problems for kids to use one. For instance, I don't foresee any problems playing the LEGO games, or Portal 2. For games that might require some configuration, it'll depend on how well the child knows themselves and how to configure things to their liking. For games that need extensive configuration, or might need extra steps (like GlosSI), then getting the game up and running will be an issue, but once the config is nailed down then everything is fine.

Project mention: Microsoft: We will end support for Windows 10 in 2025. Windows 10 in 2021: | reddit.com/r/Windows10 | 2021-11-15

This is EXACTLY what React Native produces on Windows. It drives UWP XAML (it even uses WinUI 2: https://microsoft.github.io/react-native-windows/docs/customizing-sdk-versions), and you can directly declare UWP XAML controls in your JS code instead of using the cross-platform control abstractions by using https://github.com/microsoft/react-native-xaml. I'm not sure how more UWP you want.
