How to Run Samsung DeX on a Mac (One UI 8, No Monitor Needed)
DeX used to require a physical HDMI/DisplayPort connection because Android only entered desktop mode when it detected an external screen. Android 16's Desktop Mode added support for virtual displays — displays that exist only in software. The open-source tool scrcpy (v4.1+) can create one of these virtual displays on demand and mirror it to your computer. One UI 8's DeX renders onto that virtual display, and you see it in a window on your Mac. No hardware trickery required.

Scrcpy v4.0
Huge fan of your projects. I've learned so much exploring your work. Thanks!
I narrowed down the search for the root cause off this issue, it seems to be VIRTUAL_DISPLAY_FLAG_ALWAYS_UNLOCKED: <https://github.com/Genymobile/scrcpy/issues/6007#issuecommen...>.

FSF Announces Librephone Project
i think the best solution to this would be some sort of docker-project for people to remotely access a device hooked up to a raspberry pi or something at home via adb via https://github.com/Genymobile/scrcpy as "natively" as possible.

Google's "Desktop View" Turns Android Phones into Pocket PCs
Scrcpy recently added support for Virtual Display. This allows connecting your phone at any resolution e.g. 1920x1080. But vanilla android by default does not have a taskbar in that mode.
What's strange is that vanilla OS does show a taskbar (tablet mode) if you increase DPI to 600+. Theoretically you can get a taskbar now only if tablet mode taskbar could show up in secondary virtual displays.
