'LBRY is the first digital marketplace to be controlled by the market's participants rather than a corporation or other 3rd-party. It is the most open, fair, and efficient marketplace for digital goods ever created, with an incentive design encouraging it to become the most complete.': https://lbry.com/

But that isn't the only alternative, you also have blockchain, P2P based video platform like Odysee using the LRBY protocole

  • can a fictional history blog attract a lot of traffic?

by this i mean a site that is structured like a history blog but is set entirely in a fictional world; the original plan was to make an animated web series with a similar format (i.e like oversimplified but of course set in a fictional world) however the problem with this is that animation takes a lot of effort and so i’ve been thinking to do it in blogging format instead. might be (initially) hosting it on neocities and eventually will be making a darknet (tor and i2p) mirror for it as well. don't have any social media accounts besides reddit, youtube, and lbry; i prefer web 1.0 (where most of the web consisted of creative and down-to-earth personal (blogging) sites) over web 2.0 (where most of web communication takes place on bloated centralised and commercialised sites).

LBRY is as much a federated social network as it is a blockchain-powered one. It offers different forms of dashboard customization, which makes it a mixture of Reddit, Facebook, Youtube, but on-chain.

I don't know how much and when client verifies metadata, but it should be possible to validate it same way as you would validate a transaction. (Would assume that this does happen, but haven't actually checked) https://github.com/lbryio/lbry-sdk/wiki/RPC-result-verification-FAQ

(Though maybe there should be IPFS support added in the SDK https://github.com/lbryio/lbry-sdk)

To answer your question, that exists somewhat with LBRY (pronounced "library"), and its web frontend Odysee. A LBRY client downloads content you watch and helps serve it to anyone else who watches it. I believe you specify how much space the client is allowed to use, and it will cycle out older stuff when it hits that limit.
