Btw I recently got into KOReader (open source reading app, available on fdroid) and installed it on my phone and laptop. The fact that it can sync between devices and keep track of reading progress has been a gamechanger for me: I read a few pages on my phone, and when I get on the laptop later, KOReader knows exactly where I left off. I may just ditch my Kindle if I get used to this, since I'm bound to my phone & laptop anyway.
I use Calibre on my PC to manage all my ebooks, the Kobo plugin for it can even check for firmware updates and push them for installation.
