Not new to C#, but new to game dev. Anybody have some non-beginner resources for game specific development via C# or any other language?

  • amaranth

Discontinued An open source roguelike written in C# (by munificent)

  • I enjoyed diving into the source code of /u/munificent ' s "Amaranth" for learning purpose. It's archived, and maybe he'd do it different today, but to get things started - it's awesome. I really appreciate that he's open sourcing stuff like that.

  • MonoGame

One framework for creating powerful cross-platform games.

  • I've never liked Unity. For C# I'd recommend Monogame, they should have a lot of examples.

  • BearLibNET

Discontinued BearLibTerminal wrapper for .NET 5

  • I slapped together a .NET 5 wrapper over BearLibTerminal that might be of interest to you https://github.com/fputs/BearLibNET

  • unity-game-development-cookbook-1e

Source code for "Unity Game Development Cookbook", published by O'Reilly Media

  • The recipes are available on their repo too, https://github.com/thesecretlab/unity-game-development-cookbook-1e

  • Osnowa

a roguelike framework for C# with ECS and Unity integration

  • Since you're using Unity, maybe my Osnowa framework / game template might be useful for you. It's all written in C#, implements many aspects of a roguelike game and is quite well documented. The biggest shift for a non-game developer might be the ECS architecture, but it's very popular anyway in the genre and learning it is fascinating. I can answer questions and help out on Gitter.
