You can try copying the VKD3D dll to your game folder. Quick search yielded this, I assume you can find it here: https://github.com/HansKristian-Work/vkd3d-proton/releases
Vulkan-based D3D9, 10 and 11 translation layer DXVK version 2.0 is now available
There is VKD3D-Proton.
VKD3D-proton (used for DX12) has poor performance on certain GPUs due to driver limitations - nVidia Pascal (10 series) and earlier cards in particular. The performance can be very competitive on modern cards.

-fixes regression in vkd3d-proton which allows Gears 5 to run again. Still uses EAC workaround, still single-player only. (thanks Rhedox/K0bin!) HansKristian-Work/vkd3d-proton#1281 HansKristian-Work/vkd3d-proton#1284

You mean this one? Do we know for sure that VKD3D isn't violating the Vulkan spec here?
I didn't realize how much I appreciate Linux until I had to reinstall Windows

A lot of that is DXVK not supporting DX12, which a lot of games rely on to the point of being unplayable on Proton. The moment this gets completed, that problem will go away.
vkd3d-proton 2.7 is out!

Another option is to install protontricks and use the following command in terminal after the game is loaded:

Protontricks is what I use to access the wine configurator for proton instances.
Apex Legends stutters exactly every 30 seconds.

This was likely resolved with better access to storage and memory and a newer version of ntdll. There was also a resolution of the following: https://github.com/Matoking/protontricks/issues/107

Bottles - If you need to install non-steam applications, or even just install mods or other changes to existing steam apps, Bottles is my go to choice for managing wine prefixes. Here is a guide on getting started. Alternatives - Lutris / protontricks / steamtinkerlaunch

First of all, download protontricks.
don't get me wrong, Linux is great and it's my daily driver, but... who pays for everything?

Protontricks is a wrapper for Winetricks and allows you to run games/applications like you would through proton/steam by simply rightclicking and running the file!

The only trick (ehm) is that you need to run it inside the same proton/wine "prefix" as the game (the data stored under compdata for each game). While that's mostly just setting some environment variables, if you know what to do, it's just very simple to do with protontricks:
Nitrox on Linux

I got both the Nitrox launcher and Server working! All you need is The Nitrox Launcher, Mono, Proton Tricks, and this fork of Nitrox Server Docker. The first thing you will want to do is install mono-complete. Then you can download and extract the Nitrox Launcher to wherever you want. Once it is done extracting you can add the exe as a non-steam game. Once it's added to steam you can go into properties and enable Proton. (I'm using Proton 7.0-1) This is where the weird part starts. You now need to install Proton and run protontricks 264710 explorer . This will launch an explorer window, use it to find the Nitrox Launcher and run it. Then click multiplayer (nothing should happen this is fine) finally close Nitrox launcher, Explorer and go back to the terminal and press ctrl c. Finally, launch Nitrox launcher through Steam and click Multiplayer. Subnautica should now launch and have multiplayer working. Creating a Nitrox server is far easier. First, you need to download and extract the fork of Nitrox Server Launcher. Then edit the docker-compose.yml file in the folder you extracted to point to where Subnautica is installed. (you can also change the timezone if you want) save the file and exit. Finally, open a terminal in the folder you just extracted and run the command sudo docker-compose up . If everything was done correctly you should now have a functioning Nitrox server. (you may need to manually port forward 11000 UDP in your router) Thanks, u/jozolab and u/FrontlineMist57 for the help! If this doesn't work for you then you're on your own since I don't even know how this all manages to work myself.
