VKD3D2 projects | reddit.com/r/linux_gaming | 27 Nov 2022
You can try copying the VKD3D dll to your game folder. Quick search yielded this, I assume you can find it here: https://github.com/HansKristian-Work/vkd3d-proton/releases
Vulkan-based D3D9, 10 and 11 translation layer DXVK version 2.0 is now available
There is VKD3D-Proton.
VKD3D-proton (used for DX12) has poor performance on certain GPUs due to driver limitations - nVidia Pascal (10 series) and earlier cards in particular. The performance can be very competitive on modern cards.

-fixes regression in vkd3d-proton which allows Gears 5 to run again. Still uses EAC workaround, still single-player only. (thanks Rhedox/K0bin!) HansKristian-Work/vkd3d-proton#1281 HansKristian-Work/vkd3d-proton#1284

You mean this one? Do we know for sure that VKD3D isn't violating the Vulkan spec here?
I didn't realize how much I appreciate Linux until I had to reinstall Windows

A lot of that is DXVK not supporting DX12, which a lot of games rely on to the point of being unplayable on Proton. The moment this gets completed, that problem will go away.
vkd3d-proton 2.7 is out!

How do you use dxvk async?
2 projects | reddit.com/r/WindowsOnDeck | 20 Nov 2022
You are downloading the source code. That is wrong. Download this— https://github.com/Sporif/dxvk-async/releases/download/2.0/dxvk-async-2.0.tar.gz2 projects | reddit.com/r/WindowsOnDeck | 20 Nov 2022
Please help me understand dxvk_async

You get DXVK with the patch from https://github.com/Sporif/dxvk-async/releases or for proton using proton-ge from https://github.com/GloriousEggroll/proton-ge-custom/releases

For DXVK_ASYNC I'd probably also keep it game specific (placed in the same config location as the other flags above) instead of global, as there is uncertainty as to if it can cause false positives with anti-cheating software on some games. As far as I'm aware this has never been proven, just speculated, but is still recommended by the developer. Read warnings at the bottom of the readme here: https://github.com/Sporif/dxvk-async2 projects | reddit.com/r/starcitizen | 31 Oct 2022
This is likely due to dxvk processing initial shaders in a single pipeline. Look into using dxvk-async to prevent stutter when you encounter new shaders in-game as well. https://github.com/Sporif/dxvk-async

There may be some stutter the first time DXVK compiles shader files, there's a version of DXVK at https://github.com/Sporif/dxvk-async/releases that asynchronously compiles shader files .
