Barkley Shut Up and Jam: Gaiden
Now, what I was trying before just setting the version was to use protontricks, you can install it in the software repository in desktop mode. Then follow the flatpack install instructions

Flawless Widescreen Developer Wants to Help Us Linux Users
Maybe it would be better if we had compatibility with FW in Linux without the use of third-party tools? Those tools are ProtonPreloader, Protontricks, and SteamTinkerLauncher. If so, how can we help the Flawless Widescreen Developer with this?

My goal for this year is finally get rid of windows and read only on GNU/Linux
For Steam games / Proton, protontricks is your friend. Do not use WINE tools / winetricks from a "foreign" WINE install on Proton prefixes.

Super low frame rates playing portal
Proton is a fork of Wine, you won't need to use Wine itself. Looks like protontricks can also setup wine-nine-standalone for you.

Steam and Trainers
Another option is to install protontricks and use the following command in terminal after the game is loaded:

How do I use DLL injection in Proton?
Protontricks is what I use to access the wine configurator for proton instances.

Apex Legends stutters exactly every 30 seconds.
This was likely resolved with better access to storage and memory and a newer version of ntdll. There was also a resolution of the following: https://github.com/Matoking/protontricks/issues/107

Deck tips for new users
Bottles - If you need to install non-steam applications, or even just install mods or other changes to existing steam apps, Bottles is my go to choice for managing wine prefixes. Here is a guide on getting started. Alternatives - Lutris / protontricks / steamtinkerlaunch
-
Steam overlay won’t start
First of all, download protontricks.

don't get me wrong, Linux is great and it's my daily driver, but... who pays for everything?

Install Trouble w/ Lack of UEFI & NO BIOS
Just a few quick tips: - Steam is the best place to game on Linux. Proton does wonders. To enable it for all titles, go into settings -> Steam Play -> Enable Steam Play for all titles - For games not on Steam, use either Lutris or Bottles. - I don't know about the exact state of VR on Linux, but I think some (most?) games don't work, even with WINE/Proton. In this case, as a last resort, you can run a VM. You'll have to setup GPU-passthrough to get acceptable performances. I think virt-manager is well suited for that, but it's not exactly the most user-friendly software. You'll have to ask for help on this point, I suppose.

Rumored overhaul for Windows File Explorer would tie into OneDrive, Microsoft 365
Been using and playing games on Linux since 1997. It's been there for some time. The games are different in most cases. I play overwatch on my Linux desktop now through lutris.net as well as steam native and proton enabled windows games.

Linux gaming
Just check whatever game you want to know if works on ProtonDB, there's also Lutris for non-steam games. (I've heard about Bottles, but haven't tested it myself yet)

If you are not using Steam, I think Lutris and min-ed-launcher are worth looking into.

Wine 7.0.1 via lutris 0.5.12 says esync not found with wine
Hello, I installed wine-7.0.1 yesterday via the instructions on their website and lutris 0.5.12 via luris-releases . I had Nier - Automata installed on my windows directory so I added the game using Wine runner and platform Windows. It gave the error that the wine version I have does not support esync.

Advice for running an open source project
I would add github topics, for example lutris has the game-launcher topic.

Using Winetricks, add sapi to your WoW prefix - for more info on the issue, go to the forums on lutris.net and search WoW, I posted how to fix it there.

Leauge of legends can't start match
Your best bet is installing Lutris and then installing LoL via the Lutris script.

Windows 11 vs Linux Privacy
I noticed the Call of Duty series on Steam, so I expect most or all of them will play perfectly fine on Linux Mint in Steam. If you want to play Windows games outside of Steam, there are apps like Lutris and PlayOnLinux that make running Windows games on Linux pretty easy. https://lutris.net/ https://www.playonlinux.com/ https://www.protondb.com/search?q=call%20of%20duty
