Stars - the number of stars that a project has on GitHub. Growth - month over month growth in stars.
Activity is a relative number indicating how actively a project is being developed. Recent commits have higher weight than older ones.
For example, an activity of 9.0 indicates that a project is amongst the top 10% of the most actively developed projects that we are tracking.

I made a tool that tells you how many raw resources are available at your location and tech level.
I think Satisfactory Tools uses browser cookies, but don't quote me on that. If you're tech savvy, you could always rummage through the source code. The dev, greeny, is also on the Discord and is pretty active.

Am I an idiot or a genius?
A bunch of helpful tools for satisfactory, last one is the manual: Satisfactory Production Chain Calculators: https://www.satisfactorytools.com/ https://satisfactory-calculator.com/

How do y'all start daunting projects?
Break it into what you think is manageable chunks. Leave an atrocious amount of space in between things (I'm still not good at this). I spend a lot of time rearranging the diagram output from satisfactory tools (last picture) and take a screen grab to act as a checklist. For that post in particular I also numbered the saves for each phase of the checklist so I could make the time lapse from screenshots of the interactive map website (SCIM). (Currently I just number each session as a separate save like so I never have to go back more than a few hours if I royally screw something up.)

What’s the most efficient way of processing oil: make plastic/rubber and then turn the residue into fuel to generate power, or making fuel directly and taking polimer resin to make plastic/rubber using water?
That depends on what you have and what you want. Use https://www.satisfactorytools.com/ and limit the inputs to the resources you have on hand.
- Do you guys put something in the background while you play like a movie, or are pionners not allowed outside distractions to maximise efficiency ?

New HMF factory. Very proud how it turned out.
I probably spent that that same total time (if not more) in out-of-game planning, which certainly reduced the in-game hours I needed. Spreadsheets and paper doodles. Satisfactorytools to tweak alternate recipes, determining necessary inputs, seeing machine counts and how outputs needed to be split to what inputs. SaLT to figure out how to organize the machines across floors. I did not want to hit my usual situation of coming up short for space by a foundation or two, messing up the design and triggering a lot of re-work. And the project was constantly intruding into my thoughts at random times: "it'd be cool to outline all the edges with steel pillars", "I should set up the manufacturers as a shrine", "I don't do enough with lighting or walkability". Now that I can call this done that'll hopefully stop.

90hrs into this save and I've reached nuclear greatness, bye bye power problems
If calculations are your concern, check out the visualizer of satisfactoryTools (just use the U5 stuff. Recipes haven't changed since then.)

Any recommendations on some useful planning tools?
https://www.satisfactorytools.com/ is my go-to.

Do you use any tools ?
I use both of these: https://satisfactory-calculator.com/ https://www.satisfactorytools.com/

New to the game, what's your opinion on this iron factory? (bottom to top)

Vanilla 500spm Problems
Got everything built out for 500 spm using the online calculator (This one: https://factoriolab.github.io/) and when I was done I found a few issues.

~87% of iron is used for steel and green circuits
https://factoriolab.github.io/ is the same but better than Kirk McDonalds in many ways.
- Space exploration recipes
- Beginner here, is there any tips to make this like way smaller. At this point idek how ima do the other sciences

Is this basic rubber/plastic setup as clever as it seems ?
I recommend the factoriolab calculator for satisfactory it's very powerful.

Blueprints - black box or bulk single?
If you build everything correctly, there are no need to concern about the ratio of proliferator. Factoriolab is your friend to help you calculate how many of those proliferators are need.
- 248k mod and insane stone requirements?
-
can anyone tell some "golden ratios" for a beginner
Kirk's calc is superseded by https://factoriolab.github.io

[IR3] Are Burner Miners actually cleaner than Steam Miners when burning charcoal?
To calculate the cost of burner inserters, I used 286 swings per coal (from my own testing), and then added additional mines to a factorio calculator to account for supplying the burners. Then I calculated the burner swings needed to supply the additional mines, and added even more mines to supply that, and repeated that process three times, after which the the tenth's place did not change. These additional miners providing fuel are not counted for useful output. I did not count the negative pollution from forestries.
What are some alternatives?
