FastLED

The FastLED library for colored LED animation on Arduino. Please direct questions/requests for help to the FastLED Reddit community: http://fastled.io/r We'd like to use github "issues" just for tracking library bugs / enhancements. (by FastLED)

Also you may want to check out the FastLED.setCorrection( TypicalLEDStrip ); function which color corrects typical RGB strips to have a more even color balance, so that (255,255,255) looks more right. See https://github.com/FastLED/FastLED/wiki/FastLED-Color-Correction and https://github.com/FastLED/FastLED/blob/3a1d880fb7abe5308950358cc1493c5b9e97e3eb/examples/ColorTemperature/ColorTemperature.ino for some more ideas.

Yes, interrupts are (very) unfortunately not a thing with FastLED and WS2812's. See: https://github.com/FastLED/FastLED/wiki/Interrupt-problems

No problem, it's all controlled using an Arduino and the code was mostly written myself. I use the FastLED library (https://github.com/FastLED/FastLED) to control the lights, as they require a signal with very specific timing.

I've never tried this, but I imagine it would follow the pattern of other multi-controller things:

So I'm not really a software developer or regular github user - excuse my ignorance - as I understand, this feature was developed as branch to the main FastLED library, and then later ported back to it? So I can just clone https://github.com/FastLED/FastLED as usual and then use "#define FASTLED_ESP32_I2S" to tell FastLED to use the pins as parallel interface, correct?

Check out the FastLED -> DemoReel100 example. It's in your Arduino IDE or here. It demonstrates a simple way to show different effects in sequence.
