    AFAIK, wgpu is the only graphics library out that that is really safe. Everything else makes compromises (convenience first, CPU vs shader safety, non-native Vulkan platforms, etc). If a library doesn't have unsafe in its API, beware, because it may be just very specific about the policy of putting unsafe. For example, Rafx decided that just putting it at initialization is fine - https://github.com/aclysma/rafx/issues/123

    The ecosystem is still immature. I think wgpu is promising, but there are tradeoffs, and other alternatives such as rafx exist. Some good reading is the Bevy renderer rework issue, which goes into considerably more details.
