Brave does provide out of box good privacy, and actually so does Firefox (with some hardening) or Firefox privacy fork LibreWolf. Moreover Chromium does provide better security as compared to Firefox. For more detailed comparison check this link.

Comparison between browsers in terms of privacy and security
Feel free to perform the tests locally if you don't trust the end results, assuming you're using macOS. The website has the advantage of providing a comprehensible comparison between the popular browsers, instead of just claiming is "okay", "decent", or "bad" with no methodology.

Brave bad, Fiferox good.
Brave is pretty neat. Despite the hate their BAT currency gets for being gimmicky, I've made well over $100 that I've then converted into Play Store credits and used to buy apps and in-game purchases. https://privacytests.org/ also shows Brave as actually being a genuinely good privacy browser, holding its own even against Libre Wolf.

Why do people keep acting like firefox is a privacy respecting browser?
Librewolf, pretty much firefox without mozilla. It also comes with a lot more hardening by default than firefox.
