I don't know if it works with a pruned node, but there is the Neutrino project which reduces the required storage a lot. Haven't used that one personally tho. But maybe you can find something on /r/lightningnetwork/.
I would like to know from experts: are the lightning network or other technologies really the holy grail that can solve BTC's scalability issues or is it just more narrative that fuels the speculation?

Lightning doesn't work on mobile: the only way to use Lightning on a mobile phone right now is by using your mobile phone as a client for a Lightning wallet running somewhere else, e.g. on your home PC, a VPC, or a custodial lightning wallet provider. Fixing this requires something like Neutrino which has been under development for several years and requires protocol changes to Bitcoin itself which haven't happened yet. Any changes to Bitcoin at all are controversial making Neutrino unlikely to ship ever
