    Not sure how you created those AVIFs. The reference AVIF encoder[0] wants to use 4:4:4 chroma, but it looks like your hero image is 4:2:0.

    Has anyone figured out which options have a significant, potentially benefical impact on encoding quality? I'm seeing loss of detail and I cannot get s specific test image to encode properly (the stripes on the baloon are (nearly) lost).

    With this test run, a variable quantizer changes the quality and keeps the same file size, while a constant quantizer changes both. The quantizer setting seems to be wip in libavif the new all-intra mode:
