steam 32 bit gaming
CrossOver uses a modified version of Wine to let you install .exes into separate .apps. It can boot certain games that Parallels can't, but sometimes it can really chug. Parallels creates a virtual machine of ARM Windows, meaning you have to boot the virtual machine to run any apps. And then Wineskin just uses plain ol' Wine to create .apps, much like Crossover but perhaps less streamlined. It also has less compatibility, especially for more graphically demanding games. Porting Kit is another version of Wineskin, but with a lot of the nitty-gritty solved for you.

New Version of Heroic Games Launcher allows you to download Wine-Crossover from it's interface
same principles still apply either way, you can just install gcenx's wineskin (and then steam) to play old valve games.

Wineskin Winery - What's the difference between MoltenVK and DXVK?

Anyone here emulate on a Mac? Is FS UAE the only option?
Another solution is to install WinUAE under Wineskin (https://github.com/Gcenx/WineskinServer). As a result, you end up with something which « looks like » a macOS application (more or less..). It works fine under Intel and M1 CPU.

I'm proud to announce that my app, the Phoenix game launcher, has its first alpha release available on GitHub!
There are options out there for doing what you wanted, obviously you know about Parallels which creates a virtual Windows PC (fine performace-wise, great compatibility), there's also CrossOver which sort of converts the windows app into a mac app (better performance, less compatibility). Those are both paid apps though which I'm assuming is why you were wondering about my free app. There is a free alternative to CrossOver called Wineskin which does almost exactly the same thing, it's just a few years behind CrossOver in terms compatibililty/performance.

Is there any way to play it on an apple M1 CPU based computer?
Same situation. Got it working with wine. https://github.com/Gcenx/WineskinServer

download old games
Depending on if you have an Intel Mac or an M1 Mac, you have some different options! If you have an M1 Mac, you could try using Wine/Wineskin Winery. You could also try something like UTM, but it's probably going to be very slow. If you find some of these games as old Mac games instead of old Windows games, you might also be able to get them running through SheepShaver or BasiliskII. If you're on an Intel Mac, your two best bets are VirtualBox or maybe, like, Windows 10 on Boot Camp.

2) Install Wineskin Server (https://github.com/Gcenx/WineskinServer) opening Terminal, pasting this, and hitting enter. This should install Wine into your application directory. brew install --no-quarantine gcenx/wine/unofficial-wineskin

I dont want to pay for crossover, does PlayOnMac do basically the same thing for free?
You can use PortingKit, PlayOnMac or set it up yourself using https://github.com/Gcenx/WineskinServer. I've done all of that and for the most part it works alright, and in a way these are all the same solutions and they all use CrossOver's wine fork.
