Just want to add, there's a better way of doing this. Rather than forcing permissions across the board, just using the permissions option tells ntfs-3g to create a little file to track Linux permissions in. More secure and more stable that way.
This isn't necessarily true; you can get NTFS drives to work with a little tweaking. Valve has it on the Proton wiki, but there's a much better and more secure way to do it. I do this so I can compare things for ProtonDB.
[UPDATE:] So I have installed MANY games since formatting to Ext4; and I have began the task of launching each game, and setting them up for play. So far, all of my games have launched with minimal issues. I'm using Proton-6. 15-GE-2.
