Just so you know, you can ask for help on /r/firefox or https://support.mozilla.org
Can you report those sites to https://webcompat.com?
Stuck in standards hell, but I'm sure Firefox will support it once it gets standardized: https://github.com/w3c/openscreenprotocol/blob/main/explainer.md
I was a pretty avid Vimperator user (my notes on it https://fabien.benetou.fr/Tools/Vimperator ) and was sad to see it broke. I tried Pentadactyl but moved on and gave up for years. I've been using Tridactyl https://github.com/tridactyl/tridactyl/ for nearly a year now and even some things few like total hacks (apparently due to Electrolysis/XUL transition) it still does work. I can still define binding to browsing functions and the API is complete enough. I share your frustration but this seems to be the way.
Unfortunately Mozilla did try to make the process easier https://github.com/mozilla/positron but gave up https://mykzilla.org/2017/03/08/positron-discontinued/
I am aware of that, what I mean are their policy templates that allow a great deal of customization without having to manage local files on clients. They are missing those toggles.
