Recommended Controllers?
Been using Xbox One Elite controllers (both gen 1 and 2) for a couple years now without issue and I even use the proprietary Xbox wireless USB dongle. If you use this "xone" driver then it just works as it does in Windows. It's an evolution of the older "xow" driver where you'd just have to run a command to invoke the pairing process, if anyone was familiar with that driver.

Has anyone tried using an Xbox Series X/S controller chatpad as a keyboard yet?
You need an Xbox wireless dongle, disabling read-only mode and install xow driver. https://github.com/medusalix/xow

Compiling Linux driver for SteamDeck.
I am trying to add a Linux driver called XOW ( xow/README.md at master · medusalix/xow (github.com) ) to my steamdeck using Konsole. This driver allows the usb connection of the Microsoft controller dongle. I know I can use standard bluetooth but the dongle has lower latency, and well I guess I like a project. But I'm stuck.

Microsoft Xbox Adaptive Controller support is coming to Linux
Have you tried xow or xone? xow made the official XBone wireless dongle plug-n-play for me. I've been using it since 2018 or so.

Is getting a Xbox one controller a good idea for steam deck docked gaming?
There is a way to make it work with this https://github.com/medusalix/xone There are tutorials in this subreddit. I’ve done it and it was noticeable better than Bluetooth IMHO.

WELCOMING ALL THE NEWBIES!
For example, I have some old Xbox One controllers that don't have Bluetooth and an Xbox Wireless Adapter, I got them working with the xone driver.
