softbuffer
Softbuffer integrates with the raw-window-handle crate to allow writing to a window in a cross-platform way while using the very high quality dedicated window management libraries that are available in the Rust ecosystem. (by rust-windowing)

The number of mentions indicates the total number of mentions that we've tracked plus the number of user suggested alternatives.
Stars - the number of stars that a project has on GitHub. Growth - month over month growth in stars.
Activity is a relative number indicating how actively a project is being developed. Recent commits have higher weight than older ones.
For example, an activity of 9.0 indicates that a project is amongst the top 10% of the most actively developed projects that we are tracking.

Hey Rustaceans! Got a question? Ask here! (24/2022)!
I've managed to reproduce it on both of my computers (windows 11 on both of them), repo with code for reproduction here: https://gitlab.com/Nystik/weird-move-behaviour-reproduction

How do rust gui frameworks avoid rerendering?
On a more recent machine, that same (well, more primitive) app with pixels or softbuffer struggled beyond acceptable. But was definitely poorly written.

Minimal 2D library for games? I'm struggling a bit to settle on one to learn.
I'm using winit and softbuffer for my CurrentProject™.

Which OpenGL crate should I use?
Another annoyance is that it's not possible to have flicker-free resizing with wgpu without completely killing the performance. OTOH, softbuffer resizing never flickers.

What 2D graphics library would you most recommend?
Why not minifb or softbuffer (which lets you use winit)?

Rust's Option and Result. In Python.
machine learning, neural networks, image processing, cryptography (though it is getting better), font shaping/rendering (though it is getting better), CPU/software rendering (though it is getting better)

Hey Rustaceans! Got a question? Ask here! (24/2022)!
I have decided that wgpu is not worth it, and gone to softbuffer, which does not stretch, and works a whole lot better. Downside: no GPU and no scaling support.
What are some alternatives?
