Sinatra/tux - compatible with Ruby 3?
I don't know if that helps (I have never used tux before), but I found out about the sinatra-rax. Apparently someone had the same problem you had and create this gem called sinatra-rax: https://github.com/cldwalker/tux/issues/10

Problem with assigning apps to groups (spotify and steam)
Yeah Spotify doesn't play nice so as well as the match line I have a hook to move it to the group and it works a treat . Should work with others too. See line 67 in this file https://github.com/justinesmithies/qtile-wayland-dotfiles/blob/master/.config/qtile/hooks.py

neovim, lua, clang, lsp and cmp autocomplete.
I don't know if looking at my config will help but it's worth a shot as I too recently shifted from a vimscript config to lua and I'm not lua expert but have managed to get most things working. Although there is definitely room for improvement. https://github.com/justinesmithies/qtile-wayland-dotfiles/tree/master/.config/nvim

WM / DE recommendation?
Take a look at Qtile thy have a fair selection of window layout options here and of course it's written in Python so totally hackable by yourself too if need be. You can also run it under X or as I do run it under Wayland as there is also Xwayland support too. I use the git master version to catch the latest features. My dot files are here if it helps ?

Popularity of Qtile
I absolutely love Qtile and recently switched from X to full on Wayland as shown in my dots here. Personally I think a lot of folk expect it all to just work and are not up for reading docs or learning by trial and error or better still by helping to develop and or bug test. Qtile really isn't difficult to work with and expand and there are loads of people out there willing to help new users if they look in the right places.
