Activity is a relative number indicating how actively a project is being developed. Recent commits have higher weight than older ones.

It sounds like the mapping wasn't very good, you might want to try minimap2 as it is a newer algorithm.

I think the short answer is no. If a feature like that wasn't already mentioned in the dev's notes, then someone will need to create a patch for it. I've never used vimium, but everything you need to know is on their github page here.
