What's the best or easiest frontend for installing games from GOG?
Personally I use mini galaxy. https://sharkwouter.github.io/minigalaxy/

GoG survey: Time to nag them about Linux support
Minigalaxy is great for native apps. Lutris is hit or miss for wine/DVXK.

This is goodbye, but is it forever?
E.g. Minigalaxy offers many of GoG Galaxys features (Tagging /u/anevilduck here in case he doesn't know it) and only has around 13500 lines of Code.

Valve has set the bar pretty high, but It'd be nice if anyone else at least did the bare minimum
The official client isn't, but there is a 3rd party one available for Linux https://github.com/sharkwouter/minigalaxy

How to Install And Play GOG Games on Linux With Minigalaxy – A Simple GOG Client for Linux - Wine

Thinking of switching to linux
So long as you have a Vulkan capable GPU, you should be able to get almost all GOG games working. You could use Lutris with GOG Galaxy, Lutris with GOG offline installers or MiniGalaxy.
-
I'm thinking of changing over to Linux exclusively for a gaming exclusive set up. Is this sensible or should I remain on Windows?
HeroicGamesLauncher / MiniGalaxy: Launcher alternative for the EpicGamesLauncher / GoG.

Playnite 10 has been released. Open source video game library manager.
Besides there are other projects like https://github.com/sharkwouter/minigalaxy that has some of their coding from PlayNite and of their own to work on Linux and there are Tutorials like https://playnite.link/forum/thread-1156.html to make it work nonetheless. Also thanks to Steam's Proton layering, everything is easier at Linux gaming side.

MacOS like WINE
There is actually a Wine-like transplier called Darling. The problem is that development is very slow because there is not as much need for MacOS programs on Linux, and there is a huge shortage of volunteers and manpower. And it has been rendered almost obsolete because Apple moved to ARM. Additionally 90% of Apple's API is closed source despite Apple claiming to champion open source.

RavynOS Finesse of macOS. Freedom of FreeBSD
Unfortunately not. Darling [0] is still at the point that it can only run command line applications. Only the most basic GUI applications are supported. That's still a massive accomplishment that I don't want to diminish, but it's nowhere near the point that WINE was at even quite a long time ago.

Darling: Run macOS Software on Linux
xcodebuild CLI to compile iOS apps without a Mac. Seems possible in theory, although there's an ongoing issue some are seeing apparently: https://github.com/darlinghq/darling/issues/488

Building a Custom Mach-O Memory Loader for macOS
I wonder if there's opportunity for overlap with darling (https://www.darlinghq.org/) here, somewhat like using WINE on top of actual Windows.

Darling: The Wine of MacOS!
Hi guys, just wanted to make a quick shoutout to Darling since not a lot people seem to know about it, which is a compatibility layer like Wine for Linux, but it allows for MacOS applications instead of Windows apps to be able to run on Linux!
