Stars - the number of stars that a project has on GitHub. Growth - month over month growth in stars.
Activity is a relative number indicating how actively a project is being developed. Recent commits have higher weight than older ones.
For example, an activity of 9.0 indicates that a project is amongst the top 10% of the most actively developed projects that we are tracking.

Can anyone be a bioinformatician from online courses?

Master's, PhD, or learning on my own
In trying to merge the skills I have, I'm currently making my way through OSSU/bioinformatics, which seems like a pretty solid self-teaching guide.

Does this CS degree prepare you well for grad school?
If you are looking for an online post bacc to get into bioinformatics, then CU Boulder would probably be a better fit for you, or some kind of data science bootcamp. If you've already got the math and science down, then you don't really need an academic degree, you just need to learn how to code. You can also check out OSSU here: https://github.com/ossu/bioinformatics

is this a good roadmap?
Looks good enough at a glance, but this https://github.com/ossu/bioinformatics is more complete and probably better
- can one learn bioinformatics independently?
- I’m thinking about applying and enrolling in the program, but I have a few questions.
- What free online course would you recommend? Strong interest in genetics but no background in informatics (or maths). Want to tinker with my WGS data in conjunction w/ online data sets.
