Creative coding library for C
Have you considered GLSL shaders? The syntax is almost like C. But you can write them in real-time, looking at the result in a browser window. And it is relatively easy to build something good-looking following simple examples (mash-up, remix, collage…) There are excellent libraries/frameworks to do creative coding with shaders: https://lygia.xyz Now, for valuable lessons in the art of programming… have you considered teaching them how to write 1KB demos in assembly? :) Just kidding… but I wanted to point out that C has a very very very steep learning curve. Yeah you do get demigod powers if you master it. It takes years even if you’re very motivated, although.

crosscode-libshader - Library for applying shaders to CrossCode (currently contains only a retro-style shader)
Open4Es-Shader-IOS - This is a shader can running on Minecraft Java Edition For Phone project which uses GL4ES. This repository contains source code for iOS/iPadOS platform.
THREE-CustomShaderMaterial - Extend Three.js standard materials with your own shaders!
thebookofshaders - Step-by-step guide through the abstract and complex universe of Fragment Shaders.
procedural-tileable-shaders - Collection of tileable procedural textures such as: cellular noise, fbm, voronoi, perlin and other.
SHADERed - Lightweight, cross-platform & full-featured shader IDE
emulation-random - Configuration files, tools or scripts related to emulation: video, games, audio, shaders...
Bandither - Bandither is a non-linear color banding and dithering shader. It quantizes each color channel similar to 3D graphics hardware of the 1990's (Sega Saturn, Playstation 1, Nintendo 64, Voodoo 1/2) and can be skewed for darker games.
shader-park-core - A JavaScript library for creating real-time 2D and 3D shaders. JS -> Shader. https://shaderpark.com/ https://twitter.com/shaderpark
