A potential fix has been found and tested on a few different servers and seems to work. Not sure about Faceit, but hopefully the SourceMod maintainers will be pushing an update Soon™.

How to prevent/resolve merge conflicts with blueprints? (UE5)
You need to use git-lfs lock to prevent BP merge conflicts in git.Use this plugin: https://github.com/ProjectBorealis/UEGitPlugin. It overwrites the official git plugin and enables perforce like workflow in the editor. It is unavoidable to use locking as no vcs can diff and merge binary files like code and will cause painful rollbacks. In editor the BP diff tools shows history based on the vcs history or local changes. I don't think it solves the issue. The only way to solve the issue is to abstract as much functionality as you can from the character BP.

Appropriate version control solution for an Unreal student team of 20+
I do use and love git for my personal work but the issue is unreal integration; it doesn’t have git LFS support natively for checking in and out assets, so we’ve been using this plugin but we’re having consistent crashing and usability issues. If all my students were programmers it would be ok but most are artists or designers so it’s been very challenging helping them solve problems with the plugin daily. If it wasn’t for that git LFS would be perfectly fine, since checking assets in and out is super important for blueprint and material work
