Sonoff TH16 and AM2301(SI7021) invalid readings
The only think of is, that you may have version with the DS18B20 see (https://github.com/xoseperez/espurna/wiki/Hardware-Itead-Sonoff-TH ). In your situation, I would open the device, of course disconnected from power, and see what sensor is actually inside.

ESPhome and ESPurna are two alternative firmwares but I don't have any experience with them.

Poster showing the smart bulbs brands, and the ecosystems they work with. A standardised protocol would be nice.
They exist for ages, like Noduino OpenLight / AI-Thinker AI Light. There is a plethora of opensource firmwares available for that.

getting Exception 29 when pressing button when self compiling - no problem when using tasmota.bin from ota
Either way, perhaps it works if you use TasmoCompiler?
