Naev – open-source game about space exploration, trade and combat
Sounds very similar to Endless Sky[1] - another open source game drawing on the old Escape Velocity games. I really enjoyed both Endless Sky and the Escape Velocity games, so I'll have to check out Naev at some point!

#2 - Endless Sky - ALSO inspired by Escape Velocity, but IMO this is more polished Escape Velocity clone and could reasonably be called the modern successor. EXCELLENT space trade/piracy/combat and definitely take some good strategy to get far into the game.

Mighty Mike remastered (PC/Mac)
-
Pulled this from a Synology NAS. Over 8 years old…how much more life could be reasonably expected? Haven’t even powered it on to check overall health yet, just going by the disk & date. Non-critical files, just trying to gauge how much I trust this disk at this age.
The ported it to Intel later on and renamed it Mighty Mike but I never managed to get a copy (online or otherwise). (But I just found this https://github.com/jorio/MightyMike, horay!)
- What was the first Mac game you ever played!? Mine was Bugdom in 1999
- Rebooted port of the mac-only game power pete (1995) for mac/windows/linux
- What’s something you can bring up right now to unlock some childhood nostalgia for the rest of us?
- Mighty Mike/Power Pete (1995) source port
- Power Pete (aka Mighty Mike) is now available for modern systems including M1 macs (and even Windows!) with a few QOL improvements
- Are there any games that can run on this?
- PangeaSoftware recently OpenSourced their iconic MacOS games „Bugdom“ and „Nanosaur“ and Iliyas Jorio ported both of these games to OpenGL for modern systems (Windows/Linux/MacOSX), I already tried upscaling some of the animations, would love to see what everyone else can accomplish with it!
What are some alternatives?
