You're gonna probably want both the ThirteenAG and XtendedInput fixes. Both really helpful at getting this game up and running in the current day.

NFS Underground not opening anymore
In addition to what he mentions in the video I will recommend checking the Underground Wiki. Personally I would recommend Controller XtendedInput, in addition there are more fixes if you still have problems after what the video covers.

It just works using Lutris :)
One thing that may not be in the PC Gaming Wiki yet is my Xtended Input plugin which you may want to use to get proper XInput support.

Sorry for all the long technical shit for a relatively simple answer lol, just needed a place to dump some of this info I’ve been sitting on. I’ve seen too many people screaming about how Ghost’s handling was so bad but no one really took the time to dive into it all and really figure out the flaws and how to fix them.
