If the code is compiled, you'd have to pull a few more tricks. But to be fair that is also an issue even if your code is not source available - people can (and do) decompile closed-source programs and hack on them. You're gonna probably want both the ThirteenAG and XtendedInput fixes. Both really helpful at getting this game up and running in the current day.
Just noticed that the Xenomods freecam mod has finally updated with limited XC3 support, so I thought I'd check if it were possible to clip into the models just enough to reveal the full shape of Alexandria's core crystal + locate Dirk's. As expected the Consul models don't have one modelled anywhere and Dirk's Agnian outfit only appears in a prerendered cutscene so no dice (I swear Xenoblade always put the juicy stuff in prerendered cutscenes...), but at the very least this is the full shape of Alexandria's. It's green yeah but clearly not an Aegis core so she's out of the running for the Mythra kid. Not that this is new insight since the sharp point obviously couldn't have been the Zohar shape, but either way figured I'd check.
