And a bit off-topic, but have you heard of (or maybe commented on) "Bring macOS Quick Look Feature to Windows"[0] aka "parse and preview everything"? Is it paranoia[1] to think "how we defend against parser exploits" should be part of the tool design?

I feel with you. I was/am looking for something like this, too, for a very long time now. Could not find anything proper yet. For now I am using QuickLook, which is close to what I understand under "comfortable browsing videos". This is basically Mac's/Apple's Quick Look system, but for Windows.

  • Inspired a bit by Quick Look on macOS — when the user selects a folder and presses/holds space bar, a little pop up will appear, showing the files in that folder. The user can quickly drag and drop stuff from that pop up.
Added it as a feature request.
Quick heads-up on the subject, it turns out there is already a folder preview plugin in the works for QuickLook, hence my earlier issue got closed/ merged with it.
