  • New set up from two 27in monitors. Helps so much with work productivity!
  • CSS for changing background color of "Show your history" dropdown without affecting the colors of hamburger menu
haha it's not really my eyes. I mean I recognized it well enough to know to check further. but I didn't know for sure what it was until I used the eyedropper and saw it's exactly the same color, 66,65,77. I have a little toolbar button for it. and if you're on windows you can use PowerToys, its eyedropper can see anything, although sometimes (rarely) it's a little off for some reason. I have it bound to win+F.

  • Are the people who made windows ridiculously incompetent or just pure evil?
I recently found this really cool thing called powertoys. It's developed by Microsoft and it gives you a whole bunch of useful features including an equivalent to apples spotlight search. It's still not as good but it's much better than the windows built in search. Check it out here

  • LG CX 48” for PC monitor use? | 2021-06-08
For burn-in worries I use a pure black background on Windows 10 and hide the taskbar. I also use Stardock Fences which allows the desktop icons to be hidden after a certain amount of time (I use 30 seconds, but this can be changed). To see the icons you just need to click the desktop. Fancy Zones is also really nice to have on a monitor this big. It's part of the Windows 10 PowerToys.
  • Work from home - dual monitor different resolution discussion | 2021-06-07
Use FancyZones in Microsoft PowerToys suite to have something persistent (e.g. Spotify) occupy the 1/5 top, and your Work windows will snap onto the 4/5 bottom.
  • Windows 10 computer boots up to safe-ish mode?
For the past couple weeks I've noticed my PC boots into a sort of safe mode. It'll have a very low resolution and only one of three monitors will get power for several minutes. After a time the screens will all flicker and the resolution will go back to normal. But, I notice at this point, many of my start-up applications revert back to a sort of "default settings". Power Toys reverts back to default, Wallpaper Engine from steam needs to be restarted, sometimes my audio settings in Voicemeeter are messed up, sometimes my default system audio device has changed. Also, when I open Modern Warfare I get a message box saying "Your system settings have changed, do you want to start in safe mode?"
  • A new [x] option in Win10 Clipboard Settings to make Ctrl+V paste unformatted text systemwide — sounds like a good idea? | 2021-06-04
Related: "Paste as plain text" feature request in PowerToys repo.
  • Lenovo utility not working as expected | 2021-06-03
I have rebinded the Caps lock key to Ctrl (with as I use it all the time for code editing. The problem is that, even with the rebind, the notification popup related to caps lock activation (triggered by Lenovo Utility) is displayed every time I hit the caps lock key, which is really annoying.
