  • An extension that automatically removes tracking elements from URLs
Google removed it from Chrome's app store, it eventually got back: https://github.com/ClearURLs/Addon/issues/102 (https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=26564638) => prefer Firefox.

    >I don't see why ClearURLs couldn't add this functionality.

I think the problem is that, for security reasons, ClearURLs can't change URLs arbitratily. It can only remove parts of it, so the actual URL would have to be a parameter. See [1] for a comment by the extension's author on this issue.

  • Does firefox extension read password ?
But I do not know if the code is audited before every update or if it's a one time audit only (which would be rather useless, an update could contain malicious code), that information is not on the page I linked above. The dev of ClearURLs said the code is audited before every update but I would prefer an official statement from Mozilla.

The big thing to make me switch was Chrome removed and entirely Blocked ClearURL add-on from the chrome store because it damages their model of trying to rape every person for as much info as they possibly can(after enough negative press they folded and did unblock them)

Using Brave might seem like an alternative but be aware that you are promoting Chromium and its ownership by Google. The very last example was https://github.com/ClearURLs/Addon/issues/102 removed from the store which in turns prevented usage in Brave and Edge as they don't have their own store.
