Project mention: Show HN: I tried making YouTube safer for my kids | news.ycombinator.com | 2025-04-07
This is nice. It's a disgrace that Youtube does not have the option to allow only certain channels for a kids' account, but of course it's brings Google more money to trap kids in endless video garbage, so here we are.
I made a similar setup for my kids, but simply locally using Freetube (https://freetubeapp.io/).

Project mention: A wonderful coincidence or an expected connection: why π² ≈ g | news.ycombinator.com | 2024-08-10
Here's a simplified revision of your comment:
---
Totally unrelated to the content, but about the website itself.
The site completely breaks when I visit it. After some investigation, I found out that if I enable Stylus (a CSS injection extension) with any rules (even my global ones), the site becomes unusable. Since it's built using the React framework, it doesn't just glitch; it completely breaks.
After submitting a ticket and getting a quick response from the Stylus dev, it turns out that this website (and any site built with caseme.io) will throw an error and break if it detects any node injected into ``.

Mercury
Firefox fork with compiler optimizations and patches from Librewolf, Waterfox, and GNU IceCat. (by Alex313031)
the original plan was to self-host my blog and write there but lot of stuff happend and i still haven't created a self-hosted blog. so i will stick to dev.to for my next posts as my good old waterfox classic browser was killed by "overjavascriptification" from all sides. now i am on a browser mix of my good old waterfox, librewolf and ungoogled chromium. i will evaluate thorium and mercury next. why don't i use the regular firefox? because i really don't like the direction mozilla is going to. the last wtf was the implemenation of some kind of tracking which is opt-out and not opt-in.

challenge-bypass-extension
DEPRECATED - Client for Privacy Pass protocol providing unlinkable cryptographic tokens
Project mention: Obscura VPN – Privacy that's more than a promise | news.ycombinator.com | 2025-02-19I can understand that concern, and I think in the future some version of [Privacy Pass](https://privacypass.github.io/) will allow for site operators to differentiate between normal vs. abusive users without relying on IP reputation (which is more unreliable anyway since CGNAT is a thing).
