I am absolutely not the expert on this, but, it has been useful for testing and figuring out the newer, more advanced strats such as on-mission-0 (starting one mission while on another https://github.com/drunderscore/GTA-Research/blob/master/OM0-in-GTAV.md) and DM-menu (keeping an almost mod-level menu open when you aren't supposed to be able to).
Croteam released the source code for the classic Serious Sam games for their 10th anniversary. Annoyingly, none of the games use exactly the version from the source, but they're generally similar enough. There are two discoveries which have been made through it, both for coop.
