We shouldn't use Discord to help with issues

This page summarizes the projects mentioned and recommended in the original post on /r/linux_gaming

Our great sponsors
  • WorkOS - The modern identity platform for B2B SaaS
  • InfluxDB - Power Real-Time Data Analytics at Scale
  • SaaSHub - Software Alternatives and Reviews
  • cordless

Discontinued The Discord terminal client you never knew you wanted.

  • The developer of the cordless Discord client got banned, presumably for using a third-party client.

  • faq

FAQ and Knowledgebase for XIVLauncher (by goatcorp)

  • WorkOS

The modern identity platform for B2B SaaS. The APIs are flexible and easy-to-use, supporting authentication, user identity, and complex enterprise features like SSO and SCIM provisioning.

  • sydent

    Sydent: Reference Matrix Identity Server

  • Has no one here suggested Matrix yet? I've been looking for an excuse to use it.

  • Zulip

Zulip server and web application. Open-source team chat that helps teams stay productive and focused.

  • How about Zulip? It has topics which help with organizing Q&A. Rust-lang has moved from Discord to Zulip and this is how it looks like today.

  • DiscordChatExporter

Exports Discord chat logs to a file

  • knowledge-base

Wiki containing installation instructions, performance tips, and solutions to common problems

  • Our star citizen Linux user group's readme and various known issues/fixes thread used to be locked behind a private forum and a discord, but we since switched to something a little more collaborative, in this case a GitHub organization. And while day to day help still of course happens in various chats across spectrum, matrix, discord, etc the org page is refreshed as needed so that this tech support info is available more widely https://github.com/starcitizen-lug/information-howtos/wiki

  • Discourse

A platform for community discussion. Free, open, simple.

  • I actually think reddit's model would work well. For actual forums there's a software called Discourse which I don't personally like using too much but which is a step in that direction.

  • InfluxDB

Power Real-Time Data Analytics at Scale. Get real-time insights from all types of time series data with InfluxDB. Ingest, query, and analyze billions of data points in real-time with unbounded cardinality.
