The developer of the cordless Discord client got banned, presumably for using a third-party client.
Has no one here suggested Matrix yet? I've been looking for an excuse to use it.
How about Zulip? It has topics which help with organizing Q&A. Rust-lang has moved from Discord to Zulip and this is how it looks like today.
Our star citizen Linux user group's readme and various known issues/fixes thread used to be locked behind a private forum and a discord, but we since switched to something a little more collaborative, in this case a GitHub organization. And while day to day help still of course happens in various chats across spectrum, matrix, discord, etc the org page is refreshed as needed so that this tech support info is available more widely https://github.com/starcitizen-lug/information-howtos/wiki
I actually think reddit's model would work well. For actual forums there's a software called Discourse which I don't personally like using too much but which is a step in that direction.
