  • filemanager

    📂 Web File Browser

  • Short answer, yes! I like the program filebrowser, but the are lots of file serving options.

  • Caddy

Fast and extensible multi-platform HTTP/1-2-3 web server with automatic HTTPS

  • Next you'll want to set up a reverse proxy and certificates on your always on machine. Again there are lots of choices but I like caddy as it will do everything for you relatively easily! Set it up and configure it to listen at https://my-domain.no-ip.com and point to http://server-ip:port. It'll go get a certificate the first time you start caddy.

  • Jellyfin

    The Free Software Media System

  • What kinds of files are you hosting? If you want to access videos or music I'd suggest a program like jellyfin instead. Documents/pictures or videos that you want to download (not stream), the computer won't make much difference. I'm running about 20 services (including filebrowser and jellyfin) on a 6-7 year old Intel i5 CPU with 8gb ram.
