fyi apparently filestash https://github.com/mickael-kerjean/filestash supports on-the-fly transcoding. I'm gonna experiment with this more but seems useful for sharing videos I take with my mirrorless camera

The only real suggestion I can give is to report issues to the respective repo with steps to reproduce, or examples of the media info in question so they can replicate it on their end (androidtv and roku). It might be a case of them just never trying it (for example, I have an open issue in JellyCon right now involving subtitles that I never would have thought to test on my own). This is why it's a community effort. I can build the perfect client for my needs, but it might need more attention to things that we don't realize before it's good for others as well.
