This many sound stupid but info is vague I can find, can the VIC 2 chip output digital video if so is it technically possible to get a Commodore 64 to output hdmi video

However, there is this project which uses an FPGA to spy on the VIC-II and reconstruct its output in component video, and a similar concept could theoretically be used to generate a digital video stream instead. But as far as I'm aware, no one has attempted that yet.
