rustfs
RustFS is an open-source, S3-compatible high-performance object storage system supporting migration and coexistence with other S3-compatible platforms such as MinIO and Ceph.

AppSignal
Monitoring that respects your time & budget. APM, error tracking, and dashboards for modern web apps. Ten-minute setup, transparent flat pricing, and support from engineers who actually use the product.
-
mountpoint-s3
A simple, high-throughput file client for mounting an Amazon S3 bucket as a local file system.
Project mention: S3 Files: The End of Download-Process-Upload (with Terraform) | dev.to | 2026-05-01The Lambda benchmark above covers the serverless use case, but it doesn't include Mountpoint for Amazon S3 - AWS's FUSE-based file-system client. Mountpoint is widely used for analytics and ML workloads, so it's a natural comparison. There's just one problem: Mountpoint can't run on Lambda. It's FUSE-based, and Lambda's Firecracker microVM doesn't expose /dev/fuse or grant CAP_SYS_ADMIN - both required for userspace file-system mounts. S3 Files sidesteps this entirely by using NFS, which Lambda natively supports through its existing EFS mount infrastructure.

garage
(Mirror) S3-compatible object store for small self-hosted geo-distributed deployments. Main repo: https://git.deuxfleurs.fr/Deuxfleurs/garage
Garage license (AGPL v3) and design goals (1 GB RAM, 16 GB disk, geo-distribution): https://garagehq.deuxfleurs.fr/

Project mention: Show HN: Triplox, a distributed Datalog engine with incremental queries | news.ycombinator.com | 2026-09-03
I have been working on a distributed Datalog engine à la Datomic on top of object storage. The system is called Triplox. I am using https://github.com/slatedb/slatedb at the storage layer. The main ideas are roughly the following (in no particular order):
- Object storage centric. In its final version Triplox should simply need a single (or likely two) S3 bucket(s) for deployment.
-
ZeroFS
ZeroFS: A log-structured filesystem for S3. ZeroFS serves S3-compatible buckets as POSIX filesystems over NFS and 9P, or as raw block devices over NBD.
-
parseable
Parseable is an open source, unified infrastructure observability platform built in Rust on a data lake architecture. It tracks logs, metrics, traces, and events across apps, agents, and systems, reducing storage costs by up to 90% through columnar telemetry compression.
We migrated to Parseable, self-hosted on Kubernetes with Minio for S3-compatible storage, all running on bare-metal. The product still feels early, but the team is responsive and ships fixes fast when something breaks. Big shoutout to Anant and Deba!
-
enroute
Programmable git infrastructure on top of object storage. Think turbopuffer for git. Open source alternative to Pierre (code.storage) and Cloudflare Artifacts.
Project mention: You can run Git on object storage if you re-make packfiles | news.ycombinator.com | 2026-09-18I recently found https://github.com/enroute-sh/enroute which also does git on object storage
slightly off topic but I found the idea of a git-proxy interesting where you start with proxying an existing forge and then later adopt the object storage backend

HuskHoard
An open source data tiering archive for Linux. Written in Rust. Transparently offload cold data to S3, HDD, or LTO tape while keeping searchable local stubs.
If you've ever been told "never buy SMR drives," you were given good advice for the wrong reason. SMR (Shingled Magnetic Recording) drives are terrible under a normal filesystem and a RAID controller. They are excellent as an archive medium, if — and only if — the software writing to them understands how they physically work. That's the specific niche HuskHoard is built for: an open-source (AGPL v3), Rust-based data-tiering engine for Linux that treats hard drives like tape and becomes a host manager for SMR drives.

Justin Cormack has written an open-source S3 clone, argmin. He writes about to what extent he used AI, and links out to a couple of talks that he’s given about it too.

Project mention: Ask HN: What are you working on? (September 2026) | news.ycombinator.com | 2026-09-13
in its final version the only source of the truth and primitive used should be object storage.
The most interesting and experimental part of Triplox, are incremental queries (https://triplox.xyz/incremental-queries/overview/). You get the full power of Datalog with incremental query support. Views or other kind of streaming solutions can be built on top of them.
I have also been experimenting with Worst-case optimal joins for the standard engine.

minio-format-rs
Rust library for parsing MinIO internal formats (xl.meta, format.json, erasure-coded shards)
I was recently migrating a large amount of data off of MinIO and wrote some tools for it in case anybody needs that https://github.com/dialohq/minio-format-rs
