First we looked for a project to play with. Checked the r projects, then looked at the awesome-R list and found r-yaml. We thought a library dealing with YAML files will be simple to install and test.

Project mention: My recommended R packages / functions for behavioral researchers who deal with 2X2 experiments | reddit.com/r/rstats | 2022-05-03
I'd also recommend the whole easystats suite of packages. They make model post-processing much easier. It includes a more intuitive (but more limited, imo) replacement for emmeans: modelbased.

I would start by saying "bioinformatics world" is a very broad term. Most of it does not involve managing multiple models, which is what MLflow seems to be for. Most work is cleaning the data and interpreting the results, which is highly project-specific. Something like workflowr is generally more appropriate, but even that is an overkill for most people.

"The forecasts are based on a substantially revised version of ESPN’s Soccer Power Index (SPI), a rating system originally devised by FiveThirtyEight editor-in-chief Nate Silver in 2009 for rating international soccer teams. We have updated and adapted SPI to incorporate club soccer data going back to 1888 (from more than 550,000 matches in all) that we’ve collected from ESPN’s database and the Engsoccerdata GitHub repository, as well as from play-by-play data produced by Opta that has been available since 2010."

Project mention: In your opinion, which is the best package for creating Gantt charts? And why? (the beauty of the result, easy to use...) | reddit.com/r/RStudio | 2022-10-19
I liked using just ggplot and writing the timelines in JSON. It made sense to me as far as a structure goes. Parts of a project might have multiple start and end dates as well as important keyframes. There is also ganttrify.
