  • armory

    3D Engine with Blender Integration

Project mention: Is the blender game engine good? | /r/gamedev | 2023-03-23

There are two primary contenders to replace the BGE. One is Armory3D (https://armory3d.org/) It has a ton of potential, and outputs to multiple formats including web. But it's a one-developer show and it's been really inconsistent. I taught a class on prototyping 3D games with it, but updates are slow and inconsistent, as is the documentation. Too bad, because it's a promising project, with a blueprints-like visual system and Haxe (basically an open-source actionscript) as the programming language.

  • ursina

A game engine powered by python and panda3d.

    Project mention: 3D serious project | /r/pygame | 2022-06-15

I have some experience with python 3D projects, but I'm not a pro either, and I haven't made a serious project before. From what I know, Urisna engine is really good. With Ursina if you want a first person character for instance, you just define it in one line of code. Ursina is ridiculously easy and quick, and is notorious for it. You can check here for a whole list of demos. That said though, Urisna does struggle with loading too many things and it slowly becomes a pain if you want a large project. I actually made a minecraft clone using ursina but I couldn't continue it because if added more to it, the fps dropped quite significantly.
