Transmission VS aria2

There's lots of options but most people recommend qBitorrent. I also think transmission is pretty good if you're looking for something lightweight.

I've got a slew of different computers doing different things. All of them are networked together via Tailscale.

Ubuntu 22.04 Server for the host, everything else runs in LXC containers. This is all setup on ZFS.

A second, dedicated computer also running Ubuntu Server 22.04. It only runs https://pleroma.social for me and a few of my friends.

A third computer, this time an M1 Mac Mini that is my Plex box. It's running the latest version of macOS Ventura and runs all the *arrs and qBittorrent. It also runs Plex itself, because it's one of the only computers that I found that was low power enough but still supported hardware transcoding in Plex. I've been meaning to find a replacement for it running Linux + an AMD GPU (I have an rx470 sitting around somewhere), but no real good deals have turned up.

Seed ratio of 1.0, example: if you download 5gb file then you should upload/seed until 5gb is reached, but if you are a God you can seed forever. For aria2 goto https://github.com/aria2/aria2

Require you to understand how networks work, so you'll need to investigate browsers' dev tools (or with the help from Stream detector above), find headers, cookies... and download via yt-dlp, curl, aria2, some m3u8 download tools... If you basically understand how those work, you'll find your own ways to download them.

I've heard good things about Aria2, but haven't used it myself.

For direct downloads, I use Aria2.

It is a client/server system, but pulling from $n hosts instead of just 1, spreading out the load and also downtime risk across all $n hosts. And the reason I mentioned the "ratio currency" is your use of the word "tolerated" here: BitTorrent isn't the mafia, it's just a protocol that offers the ability to share pieces back to the Internet. As another concrete example, aria2c (https://github.com/aria2/aria2#readme) behaves similarly: using BT to download, but then exiting without attempting to seed anything
