Have you tried an unofficial electron client?

I use https://github.com/IsmaelMartinez/teams-for-linux . It's "just" a wrapper around the PWA but a very decent one at that.

Unofficial and not Microsoft supported, but might be an alternative to Microsoft's official PWA. How do the two compare in your experience with them?

That always frustrated me, even more-so considering how that volunteer-built package I mentioned (https://github.com/IsmaelMartinez/teams-for-linux - an Electron build of the web app, nothing flashy but does the job just fine) does support screen sharing. I haven’t checked whether it supports backgrounds as I only use voice when on calls, but I’m guessing it does if the browser variant does.

Yes. But you can also do this natively via Chrome and Chromium-based browsers as well. Though not Linux specific, I've used Epichrome to create single-site-browser apps on macOS for this purpose. I have, for example, multiple apps for Gmail - each with a Gmail icon with the username displayed on the icon so I can easily switch between several Gmail accounts without confusing them, all while keeping cookies and all local content separate. You might find this useful https://github.com/dmarmor/epichrome. I haven't tried it personally, as I really don't care about the dock. I only use Mission Control or switch using the 3 fingers gesture.
