Project mention: Transforming Vue app into Electron app | reddit.com/r/vuejs | 2021-11-14

I dunno, I built a vue based electron app and it was quite straight forward using the electron-vue bolierplate https://github.com/SimulatedGREG/electron-vue. I started the project on electron-vue though which might be a bit different than developing it for web first and trying to port it into electron - for that I would probably start up a blank project with electron-vue then go step-by-step to copy files and chunks of code from the web version into it.

Thank you ! Of the ones I have tested, the only one that really works is Pencil, unfortunately, it lacks a lot of functionalities, and it is still far from being as practical as Figma, adobe xd etc. I think Inkscape is much more practical and powerful, but maybe it's just because I'm used to it :)

My understanding is that the dat protocol is basically BitTorrent with version control, so that you can update e.g. a website published on it rather than everyone always sharing whatever version of a file was originally uploaded. https://www.datprotocol.com/

My understanding is that Hypercore is the successor to dat and also operates along similar lines, but I'll admit that the details are over my head. https://hypercore-protocol.org/

Beaker Browser originally built on top of dat, underwent a significant rewrite and now uses Hypercore instead. https://beakerbrowser.com/

Project mention: Electron to native hardware | reddit.com/r/electronjs | 2021-03-17

We use node-serialport for USB serial communications. It's included in the transport manager renderer process. The installation guide and docs should be good enough to get you started. Hopefully serialport has prebuilds for the combination of system and electron version you're trying. We had to setup an internal prebuilds system and CDN for our app since we'd often find ourselves ahead of the prebuilt versions for node-serialport. Alternatively you can build from source.
