Using/Installing Python on an M1 Mac
First, python no longer comes included in macOS as of 12.3. You can install python 3 using the Xcode tools but you can also use the standard python installer from the python website (it also updates the PATH). One other suggestion is to use relatable oython if you need it for a specific reason: https://github.com/gregneagle/relocatable-python

Download https://github.com/gregneagle/relocatable-python/blob/main/make_relocatable_python_framework.py and https://github.com/gregneagle/relocatable-python/blob/main/requirements_python3_recommended.txt (can just be in ~/Downloads) and make the .py file executable.

PSA: Monterey 12.3 update breaks Mac-Set-Default-Apps. I'm guessing it's the removal of Python 2.7
In the short term, you can deploy your own Python 2 framework using something like Relocatable Python and then modify the shebang to point to that.
