Stars - the number of stars that a project has on GitHub. Growth - month over month growth in stars.

For example, an activity of 9.0 indicates that a project is amongst the top 10% of the most actively developed projects that we are tracking.

rsync incremental backup with support for detecting renamed files/folders
I have never used this tool (intending to try it but not got round to it), but rsync sidekick seems to be relevant.
-
What do you think is the most underrated project, in terms of GitHub stars?
https://github.com/m-manu/rsync-sidekick Run before rsync to find renamed files or directories and save time rsyncing (no, rsync doesn't do this well)
-
Correct way to backup?
rsync-sidekick should help with reorganized files, but I haven't used that myself yet. I did use hsync years ago to deal with moved files.

Any GUI file manager that writes changes as log of bash commands to apply later to mirrored disk?

I've been using databag [https://github.com/balzack/databag]. The UI can still use some work, but it's really light weight and crazy fast.

Have you tried any decentralized messengers?
I personally use databag (https://github.com/balzack/databag); it's open source, secure, and has no data collection. You do have to setup your own server, which if you already self host something else, is not much more than deploying a docker container. There are a bunch of other services to choose from, the most popular being matrix.org.
What are some alternatives?
smart-rsync-backup - Contains a Python script which makes Rsync backupping more efficient because of detecting file and directory renames / moves
Element - A glossy Matrix collaboration client for the web.
dateparser - A parser for arbitarily-formatted dates/times.
Podgrab - A self-hosted podcast manager/downloader/archiver tool to download podcast episodes as soon as they become live with an integrated player.

Quack prioritizes privacy and security by allowing users to host their own app, ensuring that they have complete control over their data.
redmed - Go client for posting media to Reddit
