Elite: Dangerous not working on Steam Flatpak with Proton 6.
1) I need .NET framework for WINE which is this https://github.com/redmcg/wine-mono but I can't use protontricks if the game hasn't been launched at all, which is the case here.

Reopening the Linux discussion!
If possible use Steam / Proton. Depending on the version of Proton there are steps to take to get Mono working, which the launcher needs. https://github.com/redmcg/wine-mono/wiki#with-protontricks

Problems installing Odyssey on Linux
Hello, I urgently need help with a problem that is not allowing me to install and play odyssey on Linux, even following the instructions for installing custom wine-mono for the game described by Brendan McGrath: https://github.com/redmcg/wine-mono/wiki. I have the following problem: I can open the game launcher and press the button to install odyssey, however, the launcher closes randomly, even when downloading the update (when I'm saying "download the update" it is in the state that "syncing files" appears), which makes me not complete the installation and thus play the update. However, I can play Elite: Dangerous Horizons, without any problems. My distribution is Manjaro, the customized version of wine-mono is 6.1.0_ED (I have already tried 5.1.1.2_ED), and I have also tested all recent versions of Proton, including the customized version proton-ge-custom: https://github.com/GloriousEggroll/proton-ge-custom/wiki. I appreciate it if you can help me in any way, I really love Elite and would love to try and play this wonderful new expansion.

If, like me,the launcher crashes when you try and install Odyssey on Linux (Proton) ......
I'm stuck on proton 5.0-10 because when I try any newer version my EDTracker is not detected. I just tried again with 5.13-6 and GE 6-5-GE-1. No EDTracker. As soon as I go back to 5.0-10 it works fine ? But while doing this I upgraded to wine-mono-6.1.0_ED (https://github.com/redmcg/wine-mono/releases). I was on wine-mono-5.1.1.2_ED before. The launcher seem more stable now. Could well just be luck :)

He probably didn't even bother to try Proton
Just played games on Linux for the first time. It's way easier than I originally thought since Proton is integrated into Steam client. Can even run non-Steam games through Steam client but had to use protontricks to add dependencies like Visual C++ redistributables.

Installing Osaka Simulator on Linux (with audio)
We'll be needing Protontricks to install those packages into our Proton session of our game (each steam game has their own one). You can install it here https://github.com/Matoking/protontricks.

How to install mods for Sonic Frontiers on Linux desktop?
Try to run the mod manager in the game prefix by using protontricks.

Modding Question
ALSO if a mod has some kind of external dependency, like if it specifically mentions needing VisualC or .NET Runtime, Protontricks will be a lifesaver for installing these into Proton prefixes. Might not need it often, but could come in handy to know anyways.

Will there ever be any linux support?
I'm learning a bit more about Proton. You can install Protontricks and then run protontricks 824270 and it should install stuff for you.

winhttp:request_query_option unimplemented option 21
You can try protontricks with protontricks 1730590 winhttp (1730590 is The Entropy Centre's Steam App ID, that I just looked up on protondb)

Techniques to Get DX9 Games Working, The Maw in Particular?
That might be a problem, you could try to install native d3dx9 and xact to the game's wine prefix using winetricks or protontricks. I'd try d3dx9 on it's own first.

How to open the Wine Control panel for a game?
But I suspect that you'd find it much easier and more convenient to just use protontricks for this.
