I recently installed https://github.com/pi-hole/pi-hole and I'm watching the windows and Mac OS devices call home many times per minute, along with both android and ios also chatting 24 hours per day to ad servers, even when the device is just laying there and not being used.

Alright guys, time for you to know about Pihole, its adblock but instead of running in your browser, it runs ON YOUR ROUTER.
If you have Pi-hole would it skip the 30 seconds or just give you 30 seconds of black screen?

YouTube is bringing unskippable 30-second ads to TV | The longer commercials will appear in place of two consecutive 15-second ads. The company will also show ads when you pause videos.
I use a PiHole then run the TV like normal, minus the ads.

You could try using blocky instead of pihole. It's stateless and much more friendly to run.

Goodbye pihole, Hello Adguard Home
I personally dropped both of them in favor of Blocky running on K3S. It lacks an interface but ties in very well w/ Cloudflare teams supporting both dns over https and dns over tls.
