Browsing the web, 2022
Sad, but I won't leave home without using these add-ons: Get rid of GDPR pop-ups , uBlock Origin, plus a pi-hole. See the result here: https://streamable.com/91el6a

I’m not sure if this ad is regional but it makes me semi-uncomfortable every time [ns]
If I download the episode behind my pi-hole on my home wifi, I don't get any ads. If if download/stream them off my cellphone service, I'll still get them. Can't recommend pi-hole more.

Never do that
A DNS blackhole (aka sinkhole) is a means of blocking ads and malicious sites on a network. It can either be a package added to your Linux-based firewall/router/proxy server or set up as an independent appliance. Two examples I’m aware of are pfblockerng or pihole. I personally use pfsense with pfblockerng and several of the main blacklists.

Do I need to go back and configure iptables?
I'm starting to configure some applications on my home server and am revisiting my existing network configuration before I get too deep. As a first step I'm investigating installing openvpn on my pihole server and have been rereading the getting-started guide on pi-hole.net. I noticed that as a prerequisite iptables are supposed to be configured as per these rules. Running `iptables --list` locally doesn't show any rules set up, and I'm not running either of the alternative applications listed on the doc. I've been running this pihole server for about a year for dns with unbound and dhcp. Have I screwed up pretty badly here? Do I need to go back and add those rules? Thanks.

Circle Alternative
Maybe you should open issues for the missing bits. I'm pretty sure others would appreciate that functionality, too.

Basic cybersecurity at home
I didn't use a VPN, but I recently setup AdGuard Home as a DNS sinkhole to block Ads, trackers and malware from the Internet. A more popular choice is Pi-Hole but to run it in openSUSE you need Docker/Podman. I am still undecided on whether PiHole or AdGuard is better for me. Also you need to open some firewall ports for them to work.

Blocking all of Twitter
Try adding ||twttr.com^, ||t.co^, and ||twimg.com^, that's from https://github.com/AdguardTeam/AdGuardHome/blob/master/internal/filtering/blocked.go and seems to cover almost all the domains in https://github.com/d43m0nhLInt3r/socialblocklists/blob/master/Twitter/Twitterblocklist.txt and https://github.com/Sinfonietta/hostfiles/blob/master/social-hosts except for cdn.cms-twdigitalassets.com, twimg0-0.akamaihd.net, static.ads-twitter.com and ssl2.twitter.com.edgekey.net, not sure if adding those will broke anything.

what happens if I disable systemd-resolved and enable AdGuard instead?
I want to run AdGuard on docker and I get error as port 53 is busy. Upon googling, I found the solution is to disable systemd-resolved on the host machine. That sounds like a scary hack, how true it is? And what can be the loss for host because of it? What I will miss?

Question about managing DNS on home LAN
In (what I would deem) an ideal system, the $dnsrewrite rule would honor other rewrites, and I could layer the solution with CNAME like directive, but currently AdGuard doesn't support recursive rewrite rules.
